Data Points
- at least 3000 visitors an hour through each experience in the attraction (15 million per year)
- area to be developed is about 15 acres with a budget of 1.5 billion
- must be planned with inclement weather options
- design should be multi threaded to provide different experiences for repeat visitors
- queue lines should be integrated into entire entertainment experience
Trends to inform you design
- all ticketing, reservations and other arrangements made through personal mobile devices
- inclusion of boutique experiences within general theme world (wand shop). include many multi sensory and interactive experiences as possible
- entire attraction should be one big, interrelated experience with various elements flowing seamlessly into one another

- Shuri is important, and Nakia. maybe M'baku's people are less inclined to open up to the public
- main conflict revolves around group of people that uprising against opening up
- there's a fake tour in the mine, these people try and stop you, black panther saves you! Shuri gives the tour (think of gringotts ride)
- The group is made up of a few from different tribes, nothing singular

Story Development
- Driven and constrained by
- target market research, guest needs, new IP acquisition, new tech, budget!, park space, brand strategies, design perspectives, industry trends and paradigms
- Development choices
- Aspirational design: drawing on what is already there, adding to make it better
- Popular design: outside --> in design. Adding something not originally there that is popular
- Medium design: specifically utilizing what that specific medium can do best
- Attraction types
- dark rides, stage shows, walkthroughs, simulators, cinema, interactive quests, boat rides, parades, immersive theatre, projection shows, transport rides, queues, roller coasters, flat rides
- Storytelling choices
- explicit storytelling: written or verbal, little to no interpretation
- implicit storytelling: story to find, but not as direct as explicit storytelling
- interpretive storytelling: story is defined by people viewing it
- Advice!
- start with a good story, it is KEY
- but keep it simple, have limited amount of time
- preserve harmony with text, visuals, senses, spaces
- use medium affordances
- avoid fatigue with variety in attraction mix, genre mix, effects mix
- Challenges
- money!!!
- collaborative tensions
- technology overwhelming story
- cultural relevance
- guests do not all want the same experiences!
SUGGESTIONS:
- Start with high concept including park story, core themes, and values
- consider underlying ethics of park and how that should impact story
- fill in details once you have some ideas about structure and space
- determine team member strengths when dividing tasks
- when combining teams, merge good bits of each vision into a strong concept
- keep size and space constraints in mind (try less lands / areas that are more developed)
- should be multiple food and beverage locations (full service, fast food, stands or carts)
- Have a variety of merchandise offerings (costs, styles) that stay consistent to the message
- include interactive, participatory experiences and immersive elements
improve concepts and bring it to the next level
